Picture this: You’ve just gotten into the groove of your workout when, suddenly, your hair takes on a life of its own and decides to spring free from your ponytail, covering your face is sweaty, sticky strands. Sound familiar? I thought so. Nothing is more annoying than having to stop mid-workout and fix your ponytail.
To help you keep your workout groove going uninterrupted, I’ve rounded up the seven sweat-proof hairstyles that are perfect for the gym. And the best part? Not only will they keep your hair in place, they’re also cute enough to keep in place after your workout.

These braided pigtails will have you looking (even more) bad ass when you’re doing your strength training. Simply divide your hair in half, and braid each side straight back toward the nape of your neck. The, just combine the two braids into one and secure with a hair tie.
A high, messy bun will keep your hair out of your face and off your neck, so you can give your full concentration to your workout. To keep it in place, pull the top half of your hair back and pin it at the crown of your head, then gather the rest of your hair into a high bun. Use bobby pins to pin up any stray hairs underneath to let your neck breathe.
A thin, elastic headband makes sure every last flyaway stays in its place. Brush your hair back into a low ponytail and secure it with a hair tie, then braid it to the bottom, and slide on your headband.
Side braids keep those pesky baby hairs out of your eyes. Take the top section of your hair and braid it towards the back, then secure it into a ponytail. Optional: if you want to look extra put-together, wrap a section of hair around the hair tie to cover it up.
This style will keep your hair away from your face, but still let you enjoy all the pretty hair-blowing-in-the-breeze benefits of a down do. Make a side part in your hair, then French braid one side back to behind your ear. Use a clear elastic to hold it in place, then repeat of the other side. Pull both loose ends back so they meet, and tie them off. This is perfect for short-haired girls!
My favourite and the hairstyle I wear most often. I even do it when my hair is still wet so I don’t have to wait for it to try completely.
