A few weeks ago and employee at an IT distribution company contacted me and wanted to connect with me to assess the Amazfit watch brand.
For those of you that don’t know my fiance works at a wearable technology company in Stellenbosch and deals with multiple international watch brands daily. A while ago he mentioned this brand to me, pretty much unknown locally, but they are big in Asia and Europe as they are owned by Huami, that is a provider of wearable technology for Xiaomi, so to say that we have a slight obsession and interest in wearable technology in our household, is an understatement.
I currently own a Polar A400 watch for running, and a Fitbit charge 2 for day to day wear. I am not particularly fond of either as the Polar is too chunky, and the Fitbit’s battery does not last me more than 2-3 days with the amount I use it, it barely lasts a run and the GPS is not very accurate. But that won’t even matter, if the watch is more on charge than on my wrist.
So when they reached out to me and I read some of the stats, and JD mentioned he has worked with the brand before and was very impressed, I jumped at the opportunity.
This model in particular offers up to 14 Days battery life in full Smart Mode and 46 days in basic watch mode. – I was SOLD.
To start of the partnership, the sent me their entry level watch, the Amazfit Bip Lite and I was pleasantly surprised. It is probably the lightest watch that I have ever picked up, which can make it feel a bit cheap. But as soon as I put it on my wrist, I liked the strap more than any of my other watches already. Light and flexible, but really sturdy. The watch only weighs 32g including a highly stretchy and light strap make the watch comfortable to wear day & night and during sports.
This light weight watch at a very modest price point, still offers a wide range of features though:
- Fashionable with a lifestyle oriented but active design
- High resolution AMOLED displays with customizable widgets
- 3 ATM water resistance (It can withstands pressures equivalent to a depth of 30 meters)
- Tracks for 12 different sports/exercises/activities
- Fully customizable info displays to track Heart Rate, Steps, Calories etc.
- They are equipped with a built-in GPS and high-precision Biotracker™ (Optical heart rate sensor)
- All displays are full colour, with a range of interchangeable straps
- Gorilla Glass protection and full IPX sweat resistance
- Industry leading Long-lasting battery life
I will be wearing this 24/7 the next few weeks while in lock down, but after the first week I can already share with you I went from skeptical to impressed super quick!
